Message from Andy Scott:-
“First off – I am gutted not to be with the band on our Australian Tour. The band feel the same and we kept the door ajar in the hope that a miracle would allow me to travel and perform. That is now not possible.
When I woke up in a German hotel in excruciating pain unable to walk I thought that this was the end, and until a few days ago when the cause of my illness was revealed my world was in turmoil. Now there is light at the end of the tunnel but it is going to take a long time of healing and recuperation.
The band, Paul, Lee, Tom, Adam and new guy Randall are ready to deliver a great show and as they say “The show must go on”. I am one fifth of the band on stage and out of respect for them and you the audience and all of the background personnel involved in making this tour happen, I am proud to give my approval.
So I guess this Farewell tour may actually be part one with part two in the future when I am fixed.
Australia – Sweet thank you and I thank you for your ongoing support”

It’s designed to be a grand send-off, honoring both the band and the legions of fans who’ve stood by them throughout the years.
Iconic Songs
SWEET’s contribution to the glam rock scene has been marked by a series of undeniably catchy and powerful anthems that continue to resonate with audiences worldwide. From the explosive energy of “Ballroom Blitz,” a song that actually simulates the chaos and fervour of a surprise attack, to the catchy melodies of “Fox on the Run,” which tells the story of a woman living on the fringes of respectability. Each track not only charts the band’s evolution but also encapsulates significant moments in music history. “Love is Like Oxygen,” a more progressive, melodious track, showed their ability to diversify their sound, capturing their musical maturity without losing the essence of the hard rock appeal. These songs, among others, ensure that SWEET’s legacy within the glam rock genre will not be forgotten.
Music Videos
While SWEET came into prominence before the rise of music videos, their impact on the visual format cannot be underestimated. Their performances on various television shows and live recordings became a blueprint for what would later be encapsulated in mainstream music video productions. The video for “Fox on the Run,” for instance, combines vibrant visual aesthetics with performance shots that perfectly depict the energy and style of the era. The band’s flamboyant outfits and dynamic stage presence in these videos helped forge a connection with their audience, turning each appearance into a gripping experience that far surpasses the limitations of the TV screen.
Influence on the Music Industry
The influence of SWEET and their glam rock peers extends far beyond their flashy attires and anthemic choruses. They pioneered a genre that embraced theatricality in rock music, which went on to inspire countless artists and bands. Glam rock introduced a new level of artistic expression, encouraging musicians to explore personas and thematic staging that has been a significant influence in the genres of rock, punk, and even pop music. By integrating diverse musical styles with an emphatic performance style, SWEET played a crucial role in widening the scope of how music could be experienced, contributing significantly to the evolution of modern music performance and production.
Fashion and Aesthetics
One cannot discuss SWEET and glam rock without mentioning the extravagant fashion and aesthetics that became synonymous with the genre. The platform boots, glitter, makeup, and flamboyant costumes were as much a part of the music as the guitars and drums. This fearless approach to fashion not only set the stage aesthetic but also influenced broader fashion trends, signalling an era where self-expression was as radical through clothing as it was through music. Their style conveyed a message of liberation and breaking free from the constraints of previous generations, which resonated with a youthful audience eager to challenge societal norms. By doing so, SWEET didn’t just perform music; they became icons of an artistic and cultural revolution.

Notable highlights include the dramatic and extended intros, a hallmark of glam rock, which set the stage for electrifying performances of classics like “Hell Raiser” and “Teenage Rampage”. Another unforgettable facet has been the guest appearances by contemporaneous artists and former members, adding an extra layer of excitement and unpredictability to the proceedings.
Impact on Music History
